About ShieldID
ShieldID, by Crown Stack Systems.
ShieldID is the identity-verification layer built by Crown Stack Systems in Oshawa, Ontario. It reads the ID, matches the face, proves a real person is present, and reports the verdicts — as its own product, not a bundled feature.
Who we are
An independent identity layer, not a bundled feature.
Crown Stack Systems is a software company in Oshawa, Ontario, the parent of RentKey, Trust Ledger and Crown Ledger. ShieldID is its identity-verification product: its own accounts, its own API keys, its own billing, built to be used by any business, the same way it's used by Crown Stack's own products.
RentKey (tenant screening), Trust Ledger (e-signature and governance) and Crown Ledger (condo corporations) all verify identity through ShieldID, on the same footing as an external customer would. ShieldID isn't a feature borrowed from one of them — it's the layer underneath all three, and it's built to stand on its own.
- RentKey — Tenant screening
- Crown Ledger — Condo corporations
- Trust Ledger — E-signature
What we believe
Verdicts, not decisions. Records, not opinions.
Privacy first
Collect what the decision needs, return it, and get rid of the rest on a timer. ID images are purged automatically, seven days by default. Your applicants' ID is not our training data.
Verdicts, not decisions
ShieldID reports what it found — per field, per check, with the evidence — and never makes the accept or reject call for you. Your business decides what to do with the result.
Records, not opinions
Every check is entered in an append-only Activity Ledger, enforced by the database. If a decision is questioned months later, the record answers, not someone's memory of what happened.
Canada first, built for US teams too
Built and hosted on our own servers in Canada, on a private network, never a public cloud provider. US verifications are processed and stored there too, on the same infrastructure, never in the US. English and French for both applicants and staff. US customers carry their own obligations, under laws like state biometric privacy statutes and state privacy laws; ShieldID gives you the controls and the evidence, and the compliance call stays yours.
How we work
A small team, and a rule about what we say.
ShieldID is built by a small team, which means every claim on this site has to be true rather than merely plausible. We publish what's built and label what isn't. We don't print an accuracy percentage we haven't measured, a certification we don't hold, or a customer we haven't asked. If a quickstart or a claim on this site turns out to be wrong, tell us and we'll fix it — the page, not just the product.
How we got here
A short timeline, on purpose.
We'd rather publish a short, accurate timeline than a padded one. This is what's dated and documented; it will grow as more does.
2026
ShieldID is built as its own product: its own database, accounts, API keys and billing, separate from the applications — RentKey, Trust Ledger and Crown Ledger — that use it.
September 2026
This site launches with a simple rule: anything not yet shipped is labeled coming soon, right next to the claim it qualifies, rather than left out or glossed over.
What we do not claim
Said plainly, so you don't have to find out later.
No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or any other certification or audit badge. We don't hold one yet, and we won't print one we haven't earned.
No accuracy percentages. Face match is reported against a fixed decision line, not a bare confidence number.
No named data center, city or region, and no claim of "cloud-hosted" infrastructure. We host on our own servers on a private network.
No customer logos, testimonials or case studies until a real one is signed off. The only names on this site are Crown Stack's own products, which run on ShieldID today.
No processing-time promises in seconds, and no claim that ShieldID makes the accept or reject decision for you — it reports verdicts and evidence; you decide.
No claim that our sandbox, retention settings or ledger exports are more complete than they are today — anything still on the way carries a coming soon label.
Team
The people building it.
ShieldID is built by a small engineering team at Crown Stack Systems in Oshawa, Ontario. We haven't published bios yet; when we do, they'll be real names and real roles, not stock photography.
